We believe in the growth of peaceful societies through:

• Youth Leadership: Youth play a vital role in leading social change and transforming conflict in their communities;

• Community Agency: Working at the grassroots, supporting youth to build on local strengths helps communities transform into tolerant, peaceful societies;

• Active Tolerance: Peace is a process driven by active understanding, dialogue, and positive engagement with others, founded on trust and respect;

• Civic Responsibility: Social change begins with personal responsibility and is sustained when people are actively engaged in creating the shared future of their community.

Why We Exist

Division and violence have a tremendous cost, which is avoidable. People in the United States are seeking a way out of division and cycles of violence.

There is a historic opportunity and demand to overcome divides and work together on issues affecting our lives and communities.

We believe Generations For Peace’s global model – which has been used by more than 20,000 people in 52 countries around the world – can help reduce these issues of division and violence in the United States by bringing people together to bridge divides, strengthen communities, and build peace.
